Each year, the Salt Lake City School District sponsors a Bees game for all of their 5th graders. In the special pre-game show, students pledge to live drug free and to make safe choices. Prevention Dimensions (PD) is sponsored by Utah's Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities division of the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) as part of the health core. The program began in 1982 as a joint effort between the Utah State Division of Substance Abuse, Utah State Department of Health, Utah State Office of Education, and Utah State PTA, and has been revised several times since. The mission of PD is to give students a strong foundation of effective violence and substance abuse prevention skills. | To be honest, we enjoyed the game more than the pre-game show. And, some of us enjoyed the food and sunlight more than the actual game. |
