As an extra bonus... For every homeroom class in the entire school with 100% participation in the food/clothing drive, the Lions Club is donating $40 to the classroom! Each homeroom class brainstormed how they could use the $40 they might earn to make the world a better place. Classrooms came up with a variety of ideas-- making blankets for Rescue Rovers, sending it to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help fund cancer research, or donating it to local homeless shelters. The goal is to get everyone in our school involved in service and developing greater compassion/empathy for others.
Here's what's happened so far:
- 5th and 6th graders from the Peer Leadership Team made posters and a PowerPoint explaining their plan for this year's whole school service project.
- Then, they made brief presentations to each homeroom class. on Thursday, September 29.
- Several homerooms have already earned the $40 prize for a cause of their choice.
